MINER’S SERIOUS CRIME

COURT DEFERS SENTENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, June 12. In the Supreme Court at Hamilton today William Thomas, aged 35, formerly a Cardiff coalminer, who has been three years in the Dominion, was found guilty of indecently assaulting a boy of seven years at Ngaruawahia on February 25. Counsel, Mr. W. Noble, pointed out that accused was under the influence of liquor at tlie time the offence was committed. Sentence was deferred by Mr. Justice Herdman, who described the offence as an abominable one. When the jury returned he said he considered their verdict w r as a correct one.
