TOWN BOARD MEETING (From Our Own' Correspondent.) Tho monthly meeting of the town board was held on Monday evening. Members present: Ci’S. A. J. Brennan (chairman), A. Raynor, F. Hammond, H. Mantey, 0. F. Ferrick. 1 The Power Board wrote asking for a refund of £27 for fees paid for heavy traffic licenses up to March 31, 1928, for which the Power Board claim they are not liable. The letter was referred to tho Local Bodies? for opinion. Application for. improvements to footpaths from Mrs? Whiting and Mr. C. Warner were referred to the works committee. . The matter of procuring a 30 gallon fire engine and extinguishers at a cost of £l6B 10s was defeated'lintil there was a full meeting of the ’board. The board’s contribution to the hospital board was increased by £34, as a result of increased' vU-itiations, the total assessment now being £230 3s. A pipe crossing to’the harbour board office was authorised, and £6 annual subsidy was granted, public library. The foreman was Instructed to carry out repairs to various gtreets. The Plunket cafniv’af is showing satisfactory financial results. Over £7O has been collected. Thej/ Rihama representative is leading in'the*queen contest. The final round for the golf club captain’s trophy was won by D. Thomas with a score of 215 (including handicap 65). G. Harrison was next, with 217 (handicap 64). Opunake will play at New Plymouth on Saturday. Tn third grade football Te Kiri defeated Oaonui on Wednesday by 19 points to 5. The game was played at Te Kiri.
