MANAIA TROOP’S TRIUMPH. TOTEM TO CUBS;. CUP TO SCOUTS. The Manaia troop of Boy Scouts retained the Ollerenshaw challenge cup at the annual field day sports at King Edward Park yesterday by 86 points, against 62 registered by tlie Hawera troop. -...A.! The 'Manaia- Cubs annexed the new totem pole presented for annual competition on the same basis as the Scouts’ trophy. Only half a point separated the placings of the Manaia and Hawera Cub troops, the aggregates being, Manaia 72| and Hawera 72. The new totem pole, cleverly made from polished oak in the form of a wolf’s head, was presented to the South Taranaki Boy Scout Association by the Ohawe Troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen. • The officials who conducted the field day competitions were Commissioner F. W. Horner, . Cubmistress Christie. (Manaia) and Scoutmasters P. Pettitt, Dawes and Hitchcock (Hawera Scouts and Cubs) and Payne (Manaia). Results are:— Cub Competitions.
