MUST NEVER DRIVE AGAIN
WOMAN DRIVER’S NEGLIGENCE CHRISTCHURCH FATAL ACCIDENT. "PAINFUL FEATURES IN THE CASE’? By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 10. For driving a car negligently and causing the death of Stephen James Johnston, Mrs. Isabella Mabel Stanley was ordered in the Supreme Court today to come up for sentence when called on within a year. Her present •license to drive was suspended, and she was disqualified from holding a driver’s license for the whole term of her life. . . The judge said that there were painful features in the case, but it was the court’s duty to consider all the circumstances and the interests of the public. - His Honour was satisfied from the reports that Mrs. Stanley was a woman of unblemished reputation. The Jury s strong recommenda.tion to mercy justified him in taking the course that commended itself to his own sense of fitness and right. It was'beyond question that Airs. Stanley should not. be in a position to imperil property, limbs and dives on the highway.
