VOYAGER LOSES HUSBAND

NEW PLYMOUTH RESIDENTS

MR. D.. SELLERS MISSES AORANGI.

WIFE DUE AT SUVA YESTERDAY.

(By Wire —Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night.

Inquiries arc being made concerning the disappearance of a New Plymouth man who booked passages to Vancouver by the Royal Mail liner Aorangi on Tuesday for his wife and himself. At present his wife is -on board the liner, which is due at Suva to-day, but her husband, who has the ticket, is presumed still to be in Auckland.

A wireless message from the Aorangi to the Union Steam Ship Company the day after the vessel left Auckland, stated that the husband missed the boat. He has not reported the. occurrence to the company, however, have the police been able to locate him. The missing man, Donald Sellers, is a resident of New Plymouth and he has relatives there. He arrived in Auckland with his wif on Monday with the intention of sailing' for Vancouver by the Aorangi. The following day they stayed at a city boarding-house. That night or Tuesday morning Mr. Sellers and his wife booked their passage by the Aorangi. In the declaration form required to be filled in by persons leaving the country, he described himself as a carpenter and timber worker, giving his age as 36 years. Only one ticket was issued to the couple and this was handed to Mr. Sellers. After they left the boarding-house to join the vessel, which left at 1.30 p.m., their movements are unknown.

The. message from the Aorangi stated that Mrs. Sellers had no ticket- and that it was believed her husband had been left behind in Auckland. A request was made’ that inquiries should be made for him.

The police have since verified the couple’s movements from the time they arrived from New Plymouth to their departure from the boarding-house. Mrs. Sellers will probably leave the Aorangi at Suva. ' Mr. Sellers is described as being about 6ft. in height and of good build. He has only one eye. He has dark brown hair and is clean-shaven. At the time of his disappearance he was dressed in a dark suit and black boots. He is the only son of Mrs. J. 11. Sellers, Weymouth Street, New Plymouth. His father died only a few weeks ago. No light could be thrown on the position in New Plymouth last night, nothing further having been heard at a late hour.
