CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED

COLLISION WITH TAXI IN STREET

Invercargill, Last Night.

An accident in which a motor-cyclist was injured occurred this morning, and as a result) Edward Williams, aged 24, w T as admitted to the Southland hospital suffering from a fractured skull.

. A taxi was travelling north along Dee Street and had turned to cross on to the, side of the street when the motor-cycle which Williams,, was riding in a southerly direction hit thb side of the car. The rider was thrown off and his head was struck.

An operation was performed this morning and it was reported this after-, noon that his condition was critical.

LAD CAUGHT IN MACHINERY

DEATH IN HOSPITAL FOLLOWS.

Ronald Kempthorae, aged 17, died in the Christchurch hospital to-day from injuries received a few hours earlier at Hornby gelatine-drying works. Kempthorne was caught in some machinery and w T as badly injured. He was at once taken to the hospital, where'an oper-. ation was performed.
