A fair yarding of beef and sheep, and a small yarding of pigs were offered at the Frankton stock sale to-day. An easing in prices was recorded. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 26, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow. —Market steady at last quotations.

Eggs. —Market quiet and prices lower. Present quotations are; English, 16s to 23s per long 100; Dutch, French, 17s to 21s; Irish, Danish, 17s 3d to 18s 6d; South African, 15s to 16s; Polish, Russian and Australian, Ils 6d to 13s 6d; Egyptian, 8s 6d to 89 9d. Hemp. —Manila market still dull and values unchanged. Sisal market quieter but little change in price. No. 1, fair average quality offered, £43 5s to £43 10s; No. 2, £4l. January-March shipments.

New Zealand market’ continues quiet. No first-hand business reported. By comparison with other sorts nominal; c.i.f. values for January-March shipment are: Highpoints £36 10s, fair £34, common £3l; tow, second grade, £23; third grade, £l9. Wool. —Sales continue with good clearance at easier rates.

Messrs. J. and J. Lonsdale and Co., Ltd., London, cabled their New Zealand representative (Mr. S. Turner) on January 28 as follows: — Butter shows be’tter tone and we look for an improvement. Danish, 188 s; New Zealand, 182 s to I84s; Australian. 176 s to 183 s; unsalted, 178 s to 186 s. Cheese. —Quiet demand. White, 92s coloured 94s to 955. WOOL PRICES MAINTAINED. There was a good selection of average style Merinos, principally suitable for topmakers, and a good selection of greasy crossbreds. Prices were steadily maintained, New Zealand realisations being: Rauraea, top price 21d, average 19 %.d; Omapere, 21d and 19%d: Paraeroa, 20d and 19d. Bradford is extremely slack and the market has a nervous feeling, occasional concessions bein'g made in prices.
