WEBSTER TO TRY COOK STRAIT.

Auckland, Last Night.

The young Auckland long-distance swimmer, R. J. Webster, will-leave on Friday evening for Wellington to participate in the Kellerman Cup contest to be held on February 7 and to prepare for his attempt to swim Cook Strait. The date of the Cook Strait swim will depend upon the weather but will be held as soon as possible after the Kellerman Cup race. On the Sunday following the race Webster will swim from Day’s Bay to Wellington, a distance of about seven miles.
