ROWING AND BOXING EVENTS.

The boxing tournament to be stage_d at Waitara to-morrow night is being looked forward to by enthusiasts. Many people who do not usually take an interest in boxing have signified their intention of being present to see the local boys participate. The • main bout is between Tommy Donovan, Waitara, and Carroll, Wanganui. The former is very fit and has been training nightly in readiness for the fray. The other local boys taking part should also give a good account of themselves. They are W. Turner, J. Paltridge, Bert Turner, Dombroski, R. Roberts, Jim Loveridge. Another rowing competition under the auspices of the Clifton Rowing Club will take place on Saturday, when six crews will compete for trophies donated by Mrs. Fairweather. Some exciting finishes should eventuate, as the crews are evenly matched. Following is the draw of the crews: —First heat: M. Sampson (stroke), A. Rowe, R. Hutchinson, D. Dowsett; R. Butcher (stroke), O. Moller, T. Sampson, L. Dombroski. Second heat: F. Olsson (stroke), J. Olsson, Gus Fowler, T. Stockman; R. St. George (stroke), C. Horner, E. Young, L. Byron. Third heat: J. Fowler (stroke), D. Richards, S. Richards, C. Veale; O. Keith (stroke), F. Leach, R. Sampson, G. Topless.
