By Telegraph.—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. Miss Lily Coppiestone, Ashburton, will commence her attempt to swim Cook Strait at 2 o’clock in the of Saturday, January 19, from Cape Koamani, at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound. Miss Coppiestone will be accompanied by a launch conveying her mother, Mr. T. Hartigan (her manager), Mr. Hartley, the owner of the launch, and Wisse, the helmsman, Mr. Whiting, editor of the Marlborough Express, newspaper representatives, a wireless operator, two officers of the New Zealand Swimming Council, and four fishermen, two from Wellington and two from -Picton. The presence of tho fishermen will be invaluable, as they know tho tides and currents and all the peculiarities of the crossing.
