London, Jan. 2. “Nowhere in the universe,” says Sir Ilubert Wilkins, “rang oiit the old and rang in the new year more cheerfully thair in this cosmopolitan outpost of industry. Clanging bells, grenade detonations, steam whistles, bombs from the -lin harpooning guns, the rattle of rifles and revolver fire interrupted the peace. The boom of the whaling guns stirred millions of birds, our constant companions. The revelry continued all night.
