TROTTING.

HAWERA TRACK WORK. (By “Spectator.”) Sister Beatrice assisted Bright Light in a work-out over a mile and a half on the Hawera course. Both trotted faultlessly. Sister Beatrice naturally was going well within herself. Bright Light’s effort, though not sensational, pleased his owner, who decided to send him to Auckland. • • • • Kulmar, with Master Cute as a pacemaker, failed to go off correctly at the first attempt. After adjustment to some gear he stepped with beautiful freedom over a mile and a half. This horse has not been in work long but has come to hand very quickly. Kohara, with a hack as pace-maker, set out over a mile and a half. The speed was on from the start. After going a mile and a quarter Kohara went away from his pace-maker and finished an attractive work-out. It was rather peculiar to see a trotter defeat a green galloper. # # # • Dillon Huon reeled off a fair mile. This horse worked better before leaving for Christchurch in August. All the five mentioned horses above left oa Tuesday for Auckland. Murial Thorpe has been transfered to New Plymouth, where she will be prepared for country racing. # ♦ * » Haveland is doing plenty of strong work under G. Richards’ care. • * * * C. Willetts has a new black trotter that moves attractively. With more education he may win a race. Master Cute is conditioning up quickly. Being a good stayer and a good saddle horse he should not take long to get’ ready for a mile saddle raee. Mr. 0. Casey’s Nelson Derby gelding paces nicely in hobbles. * * ■» * Explosion and Binger Spiers worked a mile and a half. The speed was only on the east half. Both horses are coming to hand well, **« ’ * Mokanna and Richore worked together over two miles. Richore pulled very hard and was far too good for his companion, who was inclined to go uneven. ® « • • W. ’Willetts’ two young Author Dillons worked together. They are very even movers and are in rare condition. Hostess and Queen Elizabeth are only doing strong work. Apparently they will not be asked to race for some time. STUD NOTES. Mr. J. Landers’ mare (dam of Lady Kevin) has foaled * eolt to Worthy Bingen.

Nancy Till, a very fine trotting mare of some years back, died at Mr. Fleming’s at Rahotu last week. Nancy Till produced that fine performer Nancy « e # # Mr. Frey re’s Advance mare has a filly foal. It is said this owner has a beautiful yearling colt from the mare. Ararawa and- Waitarere have both foaled. Ararawa had twins and both died. These mares are now owned in Hawke’s Bay.
