PRINCESS WHO TURNED UP NOSE.

Long ago there lived a princess who said she would never marry a man with a beard. “Why?” asked her mother, the queen. Then the princess turned up her nose. It was a habit of hers, aud how she did it nobody knew, for only the princess could turn up her nose. Such a think as a turn-up nose was never seen. “One day it will stay turned up,” said the queen crossly. •'Turn it down at once 1 ” Well, the princess kept on turning up her nose jvhen she felt so inclined, aud one day a very handsome prince with a beard asked her to marry him. Immediately she turned up her nose at him, and alas! it remained turned up. Nothing would induce it to turn down again. The princess wept and told the prince she was sorry, but, though all the physicians in the land came to see her, her nose remained turned up at the end. “I really don’t mind," said the prince with a beard. “I rather like a turnedup nose, and all you have to do is to alter your character to suit it. Instead of being nasty to people, be funny, and they they won’t mind your nose.” . The princess was so grateful for this ' advice that she married the prince and did not ever ask him to cut off his beard. He proved to be one of the nicest of men, and the princess was so happy that she laughed and joked about her turn-up nose, sad was kind to everyone ever after. i But that, no doubt, was the begin- , ning of the turn-up nose and the jolly | character which goes with it.
