Hawken and Mrs. Hawken arrived jn EJtham, and are staying at the Central Hotel during their visit here. • * • • Mrs. Baker, of Palmerston North, is the guest of her niece, Mrs. Ackland Belcher. Mrs. A. Pickard was hostess at an enjoyable afternoon during the .week., • • • • . On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. St. L. Reeves gave a very jolly party for Miss Trixie Connell, who leaves for Rangoon next month. The hostess received her guests in the draw-ing room, which was artistically decorated with spring flowers, and the guest .of honour, who was wearing a smart ensemble, received many gifts. An interesting competition w-as won by Miss A. Wilson. Those present were Mrs. N. D. Connell, Mrs. Quin, Mrs. Crump, Mrs. Morris (Opunake), Mrs. Church (Opunake), Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Carter, Mrs. A. Stewart, Mrs. Wylds, Mrs. Hugh Wills, Mrs. de Launay, Mrs. Syme, Misses S. and M. Quin, S. Carncross, E. Wanklyn, A. and H. Wilson, N. Campbell find G.
