DUTIES OF POLICEMEN

KING INSTITUTES COMPETITION. British Official Wireless. Rugby, Oct. 7. His Majesty the King has honoured policemen of the Empire with a new mark of his interest and appreciation f their services. It takes the form of a gold medal to be presented annually ny His Majesty for competition among men of all regular police forces. The medal, together with a substantial money prize, will be awarded for the best essay on a set subject connected with police duties. The subject chosen for the first year’s competition is co-operation between police and the public in the detection and prosecution of crime. The institution of this competition is announced in a recent metropolitan police order. It will be open to serving members of regular police forces within the Empire or mandated territories.
