BOWLING SEASON OPENS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Waitara Bowling Club has decided to open the official season on Saturday next, though should the warden consider the green suitable a practice may be held on Thursday. The Raleigh Cup, presented to the club at the close of last season, will be played for on Labour Day between Town and Freezing Works members. This will be the first of a series. Members of the committee speak highly of the good work of Mr. G. Marshall, who has the green in splendid condition. A meeting is to be held shortly to discuss and make arrangements for holding a tournament at Christmas. The golfing season as far as Waitara is concerned is shortly to come to a close, the club having decided to ofllciallv close this week-end. There still remain the ladies’ championships to bai finalised. In the seniors Miss Knight meets Mrs. Fookes, and in the juniors Mrs. McLeod meets Miss Fowler,
