Rolleston, made his promised statement on the subject of police superannuation He said that for several reasons the Government, while appreciating the value to the community of the services rendered by the police force, had deedied that .further consideration was necessary before any alteration was made in the existing superannuation benefits and consequently it was not advisable to introduce legislation on the subject this session. Police superannuation cannot be dealt with apart from a general scheme as applicable to the rest of the public service, and the whole matter was being now investigated and would receive eareJul consideration during the recess.
