SULTAN OF MUSCAT'S TOUR
CROYDON AND NAVA VISITED. British Official Wireless. Rugby, Sept. 21. The Sultan of Muscat made a flight over London in an air liner during a visit to Croydon aerodrome and greatly enjoyed the experience. He also showed particular interest in the light aeroplanes. A small 30 horse-power Avro Cirrus Avian, which was housed with wings folded in a hangar no larger than an ordinary car garage, was taken out of its shed, the wings swung into position, the engine started and the machine flown off all in a minute and 40 seconds. At Portsmouth to-day the Sultan embarked in the submarine L 25, which then performed a number of diving exercises at Spithead, with the destroyers Empire and Truant as escorts, and tlie minesweeping sloop Ross as a target ship, at which tho Sultan released a dummy torpedo. After the exercises the destroyers returned to harbour, and the Ross preceded L 25 to Southampton, where the Sultan was landed at a berth in the ocean dock. A visit to a liner followed. The Sultan inspected Nelson's flagship Victory.
