POPULAR FACTORY MANAGER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A large and representative gathering oi townspeople and country folk foregathered at the parish hall on Tuesday evening last to say farewell to Air. and Airs. T. Renton. The early part of the evening was devoted to a progressive euchre tourney under the charge of Mr. E. W. Blackwell, at the conclusion of which supper was served by a ladies’ committee. Air. A. R. Bates said that Mr. and Mrs. Renton had been good and useful citizens, and on behalf of their friends he would ask them to accept an

Tait, on behalf of the directors and shareholders of the Kaponga Dairy Company, said that Air. Renton in leaving them was leaving no bad friends behind with either suppliers or directors. This was a high tribute to his successful attention to their interests, and if, at any time, he decided to return back here he could safely say he thought there would always be a job with the company for him if he required it. It was felt by himself and fellow directors they could not ’let the present occasion pass without showing some slight acknowledgment of their appreciation of his efforts ou behalf of all shareholders of the company and on their behalf ho would ask their guests to accept a travelling rug, with the best wishes for success, health, and prosperity. Airs. C. H. Brewer, as president of the croquet, club, then asked Mrs. Renton to accept from her fellow-members some afternoon tea cups, saucers and plates, at the same time thanking her for the help given in the past to the club in various ways- The singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” then followed. Mr. Renton said they were feeling it a big wrench to leave Kaponga, and after all the many nice things said of them that evening they' were finding it still harder. He and his wife had to thank all their friends for the useful and beautiful presents given them that evening. Since coming to Kaponga his association with the directors and suppliers of the dairy company had been a most happy one. His wife had spent many happy afternoons on the croquet green, and they hoped occasionally to have the pleasure of a visit to Kaponga, when he hoped his wife would be able to have a game on the green here. The hall was then cleared for dancing which was carried on till an early hour to music supplied by Mrs. I. Evans. ♦
