VISIT OF TALENTED SINGER
MADAME FRASER ENTERTAINED. A reception to Madame Winnie Fraser was held at the Women’s Club on Saturday. Madame Fraser, who has been in New Plymouth to take part in the Choral Society’s recent productions, resides at Oamaru, and was making her last appearance in New Plymouth prior to visiting the continent to pursue her studies. In the absence of the president, Mrs. C. H. Weston, Mrs, R. C. Brewster acted as hostess, and presented Madame Fraser with a beautiful borlqutet of scarlet anemones, cinerarias and maidenhair fern on her arrival. An interesting talk to the 35 members present was given by Madame Fraser, who spoke of her experiences in Vienna, Italy and England Where she had previously been studying. At the conclusion of the address, Sirs. J. C. Nicholson proposed a vote of thanks which was carried with applause. Afternoon tea was served by the Chequers, and McNeil’s orchestra supplied the music for an entertaining afternoon.
