PREFERENCE TO MARRIED MEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. Blackball miners, of whom 170 single men received notice of dismissal owing to the mine’s being placed on a single shift, held a ballot to-day on the question whether the union should ask for tho sharing of work among all the members of the union or agree that married and single men with dependants should have preference of employment. The proposal to give the men with dependants the preference was carried by a majority of over two to one, the voting being 278 to 104.
