(Wellington) report as follow: HIDE AND SHEEPSKIN MARKET.

The usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins and hides took place to-day, when we submitted a fair catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. Competition was fairly animated at prices about on par with last sale’s level. Dry sheepskins were in strong demand, especially sound pelted lots showing a fair length of wool, which were, if anything, a little harder and showed a tendency towards higher prices. Hides were firm, especially for medium and light-weight cows. Tallow met a decidedly firmer market, and lots in shipping order were keenly competed for at an advance on last sale’s rates. Following is the range of prices current at the sale:— Dry sheepskins.—Half-bred, I5Jd to I7jd; fine cross-bred, 14Jd to 18d; medium cross-breds, 13d. to 171 d; coarse cross-bred, to 15d; half wools, 104 d to 15Jd; quarter w’ools, 7Jd to 14Jd; pelts, Bid to 13fd.
