FUMES OVERCOME FIREMEN

BLAZE IN A FILM BOUSE. By Telegraph, —Press Association. Wellington, June 20. Deadly fumes were generated by a fire discovered in the printing room of the Famous Lasky Film Service (N.Z.), Ltd., this morning. When six firemen entered the room they were overcome, and all had to be carried out to the street. Deputy-Superintendent Clarke and Fireman Philpe were badly affected and were taken to hospital. Station Officer Ledbrook, Firemen Wright, Bennett and Everett were taken back to the Central Station, where they later recovered. A second detachment of the brigade suppressed the outbreak with chemicals. It originated in a heap of waste paper and. spread to a table laden with advertising matter, slides and gummed labels, the smoke from which damaged the fittings and goods. It was charged with carbon monoxide gas.
