ECHO OF MOTOR ACCIDENT
CHARGE AGAINST CYCLE RIDER An echo of the fatal accident in St. Aubyn Street, New Plymouth, on April 29, when Mr. William Hooker, an elderly man, was knocked down by a motor cycle and received injuries from which he subsequently died, was heard in the Police Court at New Plymouth yesterday, when Edward Noel Pankhurst, rider of the motor cycle, was charged with travelling along the street under such circumstances that he could not come to a standstill within half a length of clear road ahead, and with having a lamp which did not show a proper and sufficient light ahead. Senior-Sergeant McCrorie. who conducted tho case for the police, submitted that defendant’s ligh> was a narrow beam light which did not illuminate the whole road as required by the regulations.
Charles Raymond Aufbuiy, who witnessed the accident, said that defendant had a good light, though he did not think it lit up the whole road. After his evidence had been taken, the case was adlonrAed until next Wedneeds v.
