SELECTION OF THE SPRINGBOKS. TRIAL MATCHES BEING PLAYED. <By Wire.—Special from “Ponty.”) Auckland, Last Night. Two trial matches were played at Durban on Monday last in connection With the selection of the South African fifteen for the first test there on Saturday week. Another try-out was scheduled for to-day and a couple more for Friday. The Springboks will be announced after tho All Blacks’ game with Natal at Maritzburg this Saturday. South Africa’s side for tho second fest at Johannesburg on July 21 will be chosen at Kimberley on July 7 after that day's match, New Zealand v. Northern Districts (Transvaal, Orange Free State, Griqualand, Rhodesia and South-West Africa). For the third test at Port Elizabeth on August 18 Pienaar and company will name the Springboks at Bloemfontein after the All Blacks’ engagement there on July 28 with the Orange Free State. The final South African side for the fourth test at Newlands on September I will be selected on August 18 after the third test is played in the eastern province.
