GRADUALLY IMPROVING WEATHER.

By Telegraph.—Frees Association.

Wellington, Last Night.

Moderate to strong west to south, winds may be expected north of New Plymouth and Napier, with elsewhere, southerly winds, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in places between Castlepoint and Akaroa, states the evening forecast. Fresh to strong southerlies and moderate to rather rough seas are probable in the eastern Tasmdn Sea. The weather will be mainly fine in the western districts of the South Island, and elsewhere still cloudy and unsettled, with further rain, more especially in the central provinces, but improving gradually. Cold temperatures with some frost inland are expected.
