CORRESPONDENCE.
JERSEY MATTERS. (To tho Editor.) Sir,—One of the prominent questions in the Jersey world just now is adding type to pedigree. This is quite in order, but to my mind adding production to some of the pedigree would cut more ice. It is the great production of the grand little dairy queen, the Jersey, that has made her so popular with the practical dairy farmer to-day, as if the breeder, who is breeding for records, is not keeping his eye all the time on type also. One would think they were careless in this respect to hear some of the wide talk indulged in. Another aspect of the matter is finance. It is suggested that the New Zealand Jersey Council should finance 50 per cent, of the cost of running this scheme. One can reasonably ask, Why should the association funds be used when only a few breeders will take advantage of it? It could never be made compulsory, surely.- Another question I should like to ask is, Do the North Taranaki breeders consider it quite a fair deal to put two members on the council? I think Hawera, Kaponga, Eltham, Midhurst and Stratford would like to have a say. Therefore, I say, South Taranaki, stick to the practical breeder who lias served you so well in the past, and be sure and get your voting papers in. It will only eost you a penny stamp. I am. ete.. FIFTY-FIFTY.
