CAPTAIN WILKINS’ FLIGHT
PLANS TO ASSIST EXPLORERS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Press Association. London, May 15. A message from Tromso (Norway) states that Captain Wilkins, interviewed, said-he carried an Australian flag and Union Jack as well as the flag of the Explorers’ Club of New York on the Polar flight. Th® machine was being sent to the United States, where the airmen would make a short tour. Meantime they would visit Oslo, Berlin, Antwerp, Paris and London. During his stay in America Captain Wilkins intends, to appeal for funds to finance Arctic exploration by Storkenson, who accompanied Wilkins on his previous Arctic expedition. Captain Wilkins is of opinion that Storkenson knows more of Arctic travel than any other person. Captain Wilkins said he would carry out meteorological investigations on a big scale in the Antarctic and would take photographs over the 1800 miles between the Ross Sea and Graham Land for the purpose of finding suitable bases for meteorological stations, enabling important forecasts of weather for Australia, South America and other areas.
