Mr. Ernest Carter, of Gravesend, Eng. land, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Lund, of Durban, South Africa, are the guests of Messis. Hewitt and Trotter, of Hawera. Mr. H. C. Sampson, president of the Taranaki A. and P. Association, who has been attending a meeting of delegates from the various Jersey cattle clubs at Palmerston North, returned hohie last evening.
The death occurred at the Waikato Hospital on Tuesday of Mr. William George Henry Wolfe, at the age of 70. Mr. Wolfe was well known in the Stratford and Eltham districts 20 years ago, he being, a splendid athleto and the “father” of the once noted Eltham chopping carnival. About 1910, Mr. Wolfs sold his farm and moved to the Waikato district where he has been, particularly for the past eight years, a prominent figure at northern race meetings. He leaves a large family of sons and daughters, including Mrs. F. Callaghan (New Plymouth) and Mr. Harry Wolfe (Stratford). Mr. F. Wolfe, of New Plymouth, is a brother.
