BOXING
TOURNAMENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. _The Taranaki Boxing Association has secured two of Wellington’s leading amateurs to compete in Saturday night’s tournament. They are Oroft (middleweight) and Keith (feather). Both boys have had considerable experience in the ring and will be .opposed respectively by a. Mills (late of Riverlea and now residing in New Plymouth), and T. Donovan, featherweight champion of New Zealand. Keith fought Donovan in the final of the featherweight -class in the New Zealand championships held at Napier two years ago, both boys putting up splendid fights. In his last fight at Wellington he knocked out his opponent in one round. In Keith, ,Donovan will find a 1 worthy opponent, and the public should witness a thrilling encounter. A. Mills is well-known to tho local fans, having fought in New Plymouth on several occasions. He is at present undefeated. As with Donovan the association has had to go afield to find Mills a suitable opponent. This speaks volumes for the standard of amateur boxing in Taranaki, and it is to be hoped that the public will avail themselves of the. opportunity of seeing these boys in t action as their matching hue involved considerable extra expense to the association.
