MONSTER SPORTS MEETING

1000 SCHOOLBOY ATHLETES. Over 1000 nominations have been received for the sports competitions among the pupils of the Taranaki schools. It is being held at the sportsground, Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, to-day. This is easily the greatest number of competitors that has ever been assembled in Taranaki. Patrons can be assured of a programme devoid of any “waits.” Afternoon tea will be available on tho ground, as well as ice creams, soft drinks and confectionery. This department is under the direction of a committee of ladies.

Two-thirdS of the gate proceeds are to be given by the Schools’ Association to the unemployment fund, and the profits from the refreshment stalls will be donated to the Pukekura Park Board. It is hoped the public will patronise the event well and show its interest in school athletics. At the same time the funds of worthy objects will be augmented.
