BILLY BOYS’ WORKSHOP
A WOODEN CANDLESTICK. Six large cotton reels and a nice solid round of wood will be required for this pretty candlestick. Painted some bright colour, and with a candle to match, it looks well in any room. Enamelled red or black, with touches of gold here and there, It has quite a Chinese appearance. Scrape ail the paper from the reels, and be sure they are clean. The hole in the top of the reel should be carefully burnt with a hot poker, and then hollowed out till it is largo enough to hold a candle.
Now take the remaining five reels, put a little glue on eaeh, place one on top of another and fix them together by running through them a wooden skewer on which you have smeared some glue. Cut the skewer off evenly at top and bottom. Glue the bottom reel to the round base, and then glue on the top reel. Be sure that all is dry before you start painting; if you are using two shades of enamel, allow one to dry before starting the other.
