POLICE COURT NEWS

SITTING AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Reserved judgment in the case in which Henry Dickson, a Native, was charged with the theft of a 10-gallon barrel of beer from the Okato Hotel on Christmas Eve, was delivered by Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., in the Police Court at New Plymouth yesterday. The magistrate said he must dismiss the information as he was not satisfied that defendant had been proved guilty. Judgment was also given in the civil claim by W. B. Franklin against F. Mitchell. Plaintiff was non-suited, the magistrate holding that the essential cause of the collision, as a result of which the action arise, was plaintiff’s negligence in riding on the wrong side of the road. The matter of costs was reserved. The Taranaki Trade Association was non-suited in a defended claim against G. A. Hadler.
