GENERAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Everett Road Reserve, which is but a few miles from Inglewood, is becoming more popular each year. On Sunday afternoon the members of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, at the invitation of the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce, spent the day at the reserve. Over 130 cars were parked. During the afternoon the Inglewood Band rendered some very enjoyable music. The visitors were warm in their praise of the beautiful spot. On Monday evening the Inglewood Tennis Club held its annual social evening in the town hail. Dancing and cards were indulged in. Card trophies were won by: Ladies, Mrs. W. Codd, first; Mrs. R. Penn, second; and men’s, Mrs. Bullock, first; Mr. Guthrie, second. The floor was in excellent ordc. for dancing and a very successful evening was spent. The following are the results of the music examinations of pupils of the Inglewood Convent School, which were held in December: Intermediate: Miss M. Nicholls 86 (honours); Miss A. Parfitt 77 (pass); junior, Miss I. King 96 (honours); Master L. O’Donnell 94 (honours); Miss E. Hanright 89 (honours); Miss D. Alleman 86 (honours). Preparatory, Miss M. Armstrong 91 (honours); Master B. Faris 90 (honours); Master P. Davidson 89 (honours); Miss N. Armstrong 57. On Saturday four rinks of bowlers from Vogeltown defeated Inglewood on the latter’s green. The following are the results, Inglewood being mentioned first: Allan 28 v. Cooper 22; Darlow 18 v. Worth 23; Mulholland 16 v. Healey 30; Harrison 19 v. Marshall 29; totals, Inglewood 80; Vogeltown 104. On Monday Mr. E. Olson (town clerk) left to attend the Municipal Conference at Melson.
