The Totara is at present discharging coal from Westport and is expected to return to the southern port this morning to load for Tarakohe. (U.S.S. Co.). The Kaituna was to leave Wellington yesterday for New Plymouth, where she is due to-day. She is expected to sail to-morrow for Greymouth to discharge and load. (U.S.S. Co.). The Progress was scheduled to load at Dunedin yesterday for New Plymouth, via the usual southern ports. She is due here on Saturday and later proceeds to Port Waikato. (Holm and Co.). The Corinna commenced loading at Dunedin yesterday for New Plymouth, via the usual ports. Co.). TRANS-PACIFIC CARGO. The Union Company’s tranis-Pacific steamer Waikawa, which cleared San Pedro on February 2 for Papeete, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth, is due at Papeete next Friday, and at Napier on February 27. The vessel is to load at Pacific Coast ports late in April and early in May for Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth (also for Bluff and Nelson if there is sufficient inducement). PORT MELBOURNE BERTHED. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Melbourne arrived at New Plymouth early yesterday morning from Auckland and was berthed at the Newton King wharf at 6 a.m., drawing 22ft Ilin forward and 23ft Ilin aft. The vessel will load 10,800 freight carcases of meat and 5000 erates of cheese for London, and is expected to sail on Wednesday for Wellington to continue loading. She is due to sail finally from Lyttelton on February 2'2 for London, via Panama. The vessel is commanded by Captain J. J. Hudson, and his officers are; Chief, Mr. H. H. Smith; second, Mr. R. Martin; third, Mr. W. E. Simpson; fourth, Mr. L. Bloye; chief engineer, Mr. Carrick; second, Mr. Anscombe; third, Mr. Martin; fourth, Mr. Moore; fifth, Mr. Ogilvie; sixth, Mr. E. Field; wireless operator, Mr. Spencer; refrigerating engineers, Messrs Quoine and Grist, MAHIA AT LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahia reached London from New Zealand on the evening of February 7. She is expected to leave London on February 22 for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, New Plymouth and Nelson. She is due at Port Chalmers on April 4. KINTYRE TO SAIL TO-MORROW. The Kintyre, at present discharging at New Plymouth 3300 tons of phosphates from Morocco, will probably sail to-morrow, night for Wanganui, where she will complete discharge.
MIDDLESEX DUE ON FRIDAY. The Federal Line steamer Middlesex is now due here on Friday from. Wellington with 1300 tons of London cargo. She will load meat for West of England porta and butter and cheese for London. From New Plymouth the vessel will proceed to Wanganui to continue loading. ONEHUNGA SERVICE. The Ngapuhi is due at New Plymouth early this morning with passengers and cargo from Onehunga. She returns north at seven o’clock to-night and is due r’ New Plymouth again early on Fri;l;\ morning, SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. ARRIVED. Wellington, February 13.—Dewey (2.53 a.m.), from Auckland; Tahiti (6.5 a.m.), from San Francisco. OVERSEAS MOVEMENTS. Newcastle, February 13.—Arrived: Nile, from New Zealand. SHIP FOR TRANS-TASMAN SERVICE. Sun. London, Feb. 12. Denny Brothers, of Dumbarton, are constructing a motor-ship of 8000 tons for the Australind Steamship Company. It is to be completed early in 1929. It will have a shelter deck and a speed of 11 knots and is intended for the Australian and New Zealand service. The Australind Steamship Company, under the control of Tri'oier, Anderson and Co., of London, owns three vessels.
