At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Sim, John'Miller, charged with indecently assaulting two girls under the age of 16 years, and charged alternately with common assault, was found not guilty and discharged, )
George Thomas Burgess, charged with indecent assault respecting a girl under the age of 16 years was found not guilty and discharged, the Judge remarking that accused could consider himself fortunate that he had found such a jury.
Ivan Walter William Hanning, w’ho had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to breaking and entering premises at Palmerston and stealing goods valued at £l3 6s Bd, was admitted tq probation for three years. : .>■ ,
William McKinncl, on a Charge, ; of assaulting Henry Bayley, was fined £lOO.
George Alexander Mason, who was found guilty of dishonestly, obtaining three pairs of socks valued ‘at 15s 6d and necktie valued at 4s 6d Was admitted to probation for a period of two years.
