SUGGESTION TO LIBRARIES* By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. "The average borrower from a public library is no more fitted to select hie books from the shelves than would an invalid be to go to a chemist's and mix his own prescription from the bottles ranged before him,” said Mr. G. H. Dolby (New Plymouth), when suggesting to the libraries conference that library news and notes should be published in a monthly journal. He urged that It was the duty of librarians to guide readers in their choice of books and suggested that they might lead many readers into fields other than Action. Mr. Dolby said they might certainly inform the users of a library of the books reaching th© library. It was pointed out that most libraries had not staffs available to give borrowers individual attention, and the question was referred to the executive.
