RIFLE-SHOOTING
, ARRANGEMENTS FOR EAST-DR. .At a meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Rifle Association it was resolved to bold the annual meeting of the association at Easter as usual. A programme consisting of fire matches, a grand aggregate, and a service match, was drawn up and will be submited to the Defence Department for approval. It is hoped with a complete organisation, an early start, and a full staff of markers to get the meeting through in one day. If this is done Easter Monday will be devoted to a series of sweepstake matches. Captain Hartnell said that the patron of the association, Colonel Ellis, had passed away recently, and on his motion a vote of sympathy with the relatives was carried in the usual manner. Lieut.-Colonel C. H. Weston, vice-pre-sident of the association, was elected patron in succession to the late Colonel Ellis, and Captain B<a>n, Messrs. Mc» senger and Oliver vice-presidents.
