WEDDING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very pretty wedding of considerable local interest was solemnised at the Roman Catholic Church, Inglewood, on Tuesday, January 24, the contracting parties being Miss Hilda (Dolly) Dodunski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jno, Dodunski, of Durham Road, and Mr. Edward Mahon, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Mahon, of Tariki. The ceremony was performed by Father Forrestal, of Inglewood. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome frock of ivory georgette with an overdress of guipure lace. The veil was arranged with a coronet, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, thalectrum, gypsophila and maiden hair fern w.th silver streamers. The bridesmaids were Mise Leta Mumby, in blue crepe de chine, over biscuit lace, and Miss Katie Kovaleski, in champagne crepe de chine over biscuit lace, each carrying a dainty bouquet to match her frock. The bride’s train was carried by two little flower girls, Audrey Kaye and Jean Dodunski, attired in beautiful frocks of mauve silk taffeta over tulle to match, a dainty gold basket of flowers being carried by each. Mr. Percy Dodunski, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. Jno. Mahon, brothei- of the groom, was groomsman. Miss Larmer played the “Wedding I March.” * After the ceremony the bride's parents entertained the guests at the Hotel Savoy, where to receive about eighty guests, Mrs. Dodunski was attired in a handsome navy repp frock with hand embroidered vest of mushroom pink. After "the usual toasts had been honoured the happy couple left by car to spend a honeymoon in the north. The bride’s travelling dress was of duchess blue repp, with crinoline hat to match and a handsome fox fur. The couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents and several cheques. The bridegroom’s present to the bride waa a handsome string of pearls, to each of the bridesmaids a silver trinklet box, and a brush, comb and mirror set, and to each of the flower girls a lovely string 61 pearls. ’• '
GENERAL. On Friday evening the Athletic Club met to make arrangements . for. an athletic meeting. A track committee and a programme committee were elected. Another meeting will be held on Monday. The local howling competitions are now nearing completion. In the A champion singles an interesting position has arisen, Wilson, Maetzig and Longbottom all scoring an equal number of wins. Mr. W. Somerton has annexed th© B championship singles. In the A pairs championship three pairs are still level, while Hook and Hill have won the B section. On Saturday afternoon Inglewood experienced a welcome shower of rain, accompanied by thunder.. Rain fell for about an hour, but around Kaimata and Norfolk Road it fell much more heavily. Miss Gwen Chard, of Lincoln Road, who recently went under an operation, has mad© a good recovery, and is jiow about again. Mr. Geoff. Roberts, who has been an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital for the past few weeks, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery.
