RACES IN NEW PLYMOUTH. Athletic and cycling events decided at the evening meeting of the Amu.cur Athletic Club in Pukekura Park on Tuesday were as follow: — 100 Yards. —Pankhurst (11yds) 1 Webster (Byds) 2, Norris (2yds), Smith (9yds) and Diekson (9yds) equal 3. Eight started. Won by a yard, the second man about the same distance ahead of the next three. Time, lOsec. 440 Yards.—Gilmour (6yds) 1, Pankhurst (30yds) 2, Hunter (12yds) 3. Four started. Hunter was left at th© start and Gilmour immediately went past him, setting a strong pace which ho held to the end, passing Pankhurst in the straight. Time, 52 3-ssee. One Mile.—Harris (190yds) 1, Gorringe (70yds) 2, Walsham (45yds) 3. Twelve started. Harris, a junior, deserved his win, making a good finish to hold off by five yards Gorringe, who had drawn away from tho field, pursued by Walsham, who was unable to make up about 15 yards of tho 25 yards he was conceding Gorringe. Hingston was fourth, followed by C. Robertson, who had started with Walsham. Time, 4mln 35 sec.
Half-mile Cy -Mae© (scr) 1, Hutchinson (20yds; 2, Webster (40yds) 3. Heatley (80yds), the only other starter, fell when leading into the straight.
