FORMER MANAGER CHARGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association Christchurch, Last Night. William Roy MacDonald, sometime Christchurch manager of the Guardian Assurance Company, was charged at the Supreme Court to-day with the theft of £654 of the company’s funds. Evidence was given that MacDonald had been, prior to 1925, in the habit of borrowing various sums from the office eash, sometimes replacing them with cheques, I.O'.U.’s and often nothing at all. After 1925 he got behind in his payments and his borrowing were concealed by inaccurate book entries until the accountant went to Wellington and confessed to the general manager. Evidence for the Crown was completed to-day and. the case is proceeding.
