GENERAL ITEMS (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. H. R. White left Patea on Saturday on a motor tour of the Dominion. The Patea Golf Club held a most enjoyable smoke concert on Thursday evening last. There were about 30 members present and an extensive toast list interspersed with gramophone selections was gone through. The senior and junior championship cups were presented by Mr. Rook to Messrs G. Wilis and D. Finlay respectively, and the concert terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. 11. A. iFindlay for presiding. A meeting of the committee of the Patea Domain Board was held on Thursday, Mr. E. F. Hemingway presiding. The ground committee reported that during the past month the whole of the hedges were trimmed and paths and fences attended to, the oval being mowed and the whole ground now presenting a good appearance. A vote of thanks was tendered to Mr. Petersen for his assistance to the board. The chairman reported that he was daily receiving fresh offers of assistance towards the proposed two day bazaar to be held shortly in the town hall. The annual meeting of tho Patea Coursing Club was held on Friday, Mr. J. A. McKenna presiding over a good attendance. The annual report showed that during the year two successful meetings were held, and considerable improvements were made to the course, t'he sum of £SO having been expended. The report showed a credit balance of £lO Is lid. The club intends to start early in the season and run off some puppy and maiden stakes. It was unanimously resolved that the club place on record its appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the club by Mr. Hannan and Mr. James Bourke.

On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. H. Neal, it was agreed that the name of the club be altered to the 1 tea-Hawera Coursing ‘Club, and that all coursing be held at the Patea Club’s enclosure at Whenuakura.
