It is difficult to give the reason, but the price of wool to-day rose to fully twopence a pound better than last March for the Wellington sale. The support came chiefly from the Continent. Bradford bought wool but sparingly, and the opinion of some buyers for that niaiket was that prices were far too high for it to make its m-ual we'nrht fully felt. ‘ There was a full bench and the keenest competition rvas displayed. Just over 9001) bales were offered, very wellgrown and less wasty, though a trifle heavier in grease than a year ago. America procured some of the better conditioned and more stylish of the wools. Australia was a valuable buyer for Wools suitable to manufacture there. France strongly competed for fleece wools and Germany Itougbt heavily. The following is the range of prices in each case for super, average and inferior:—

Bellies and Pieces. —Crossbred, good to super, 13d to 17jd; low' to medium, 83d to 12Jd. Crutchings.—Good, 9)d to 12Jd; inferior, Gid to Sid; locks, OJd to 9Jd. There was a rise of 2d to 2Jd in fine wools and JJd to 2d in medium and coarse.
