DANCE RECITAL
MISS GRIFFITHS’ RECITAL The parents and friends of the dancing pupils of Miss Peggjr Griffiths spent a most enjoyable evening at tlie Fitzroy Sunday School on Saturday evening, when the children, who were very daintily froeke", gave proof of their careful training and captivated the audience with their graceful interpretations. The hall was artistically decorated to represent a garden, and it seemed very right and proper that fairies, witches, nymphs and flowers should use it as their playground. The first part of the programme consisted of the grand march, exercises, eurythmies and springs. It was quite evident that each individual child realised the importance of correct footwork to obtain balance, and mental balance, to obtain correct footwork.
A lively witch dance was performed by Misses Anne Brodie, Susie Sanders, Nonnie Griffiths, Rita Vickers, Jean C'limie and Monica Webster. The flower fairies dance was a very realistic item, when six beautiful paper flowers which provided hiding places for the small dancers, helped to create that atmosphere of mystic imagery so dear to the child mind. The fairies were Misses Pamela Saunders, Monica Webster, Jean Daisley, Rita Draper, D. Lewis and M. Lewis. Miss Susie Saunders, who was the soloist for this item, danced with exceptional poise and winsomeness. Later Misses Keitha Whitcombe, Monica Webster, Anne Brodie, Nonnie Griffiths, Susie Saunders and Rita Vickers, as slender daisies, unfolded their dainty petals and danced gaily about the garden. The programme terminated with graceful curtsies made by the company of green nymphs. Miss Eileen Horner acted as accompanist and played several solos.
