Johnson defeated Dr. George King, of New York, the tenth ranking American player, 7—5, 6 —3, 7 —5. Ohta eliminated Griffin, 2 —6, 7 —5, 6—2, 3—o, o—3. Brugnon and Gregory beat Mangin and Newark, G— 4, 7 —5, 6—B.
