TUNNEY-DEMPSEY FIGHT

At Chicago Tex Rickard signed Tunney and Dempsey on a new eont-ract for the approaching fight, whereby the champion receives 1,000,000 dollars and Dempsey 425,000 dollars. RUMOURS OF BRIBERY CURRENT. Received Sept. 13, 8.15 p.m. New York, Sept. 12. A Chicago message . ays that two Interesting reports were current to-day relative to the championship fight, namely, that Tunney will receive the flat sum of 1,000,000 dollars and Dempsey 426,000, and that Tunney had at epted a bribe of 1,000,000 dollars from New York gamblers to let Dempsey win. The rumours gained currency- over the weekend but they are vehemently denied by the champion. Tunney enjoyed a complete day’s rest to-day save for a round of golf. He had planned a little ring work, but the intense heat here caused a changp of his plans. Dempsey also did not box, but was engaged with pulleys and the punching bag. It is understood that he will continue his secret boxing sessions until next Sunday. The Court declined to issue an injunction preventing the Dempsey-Tunney fight.
