THE WHITE CLIFFS COMPANY. FORWARD SALE TO NOVEMBER. The nineteenth annual meeting of the White Cliffs Co-operative Dairy Company was held yesterday. Mr. H. Wells, chairman of directors, presided. The report said ths results of a year’s working under the Dairy Control Board and the comparison with the previous years pay-out of 19Jd was very striking. The output had increased' by 14J tons, yet the amount paid to suppliers was £2,400 less than last year. The lifting of control had enabled the directors to make a forward sale to the end of November at BJd per lb f.o.b. The factory had received 2,822,2991 b of milk for cheese-making, containing 169,5901 b of 'butter-fat, making 443,3001 b of cheese factory weights. The milk required to make 11b of cheese was 8.621 b. The yield was 2.61, and the' average test 4.43. For butter-making during the winter the factory dealt with 3,0071 b butter-fat, making 3,5821 b butter, an over-run of 19.12 per cent. After writing off £93 2s fid for depreciation, the profit and loss account showed a balance of £790 19s 4d. The directors recommended a further payment of Id per lb of butter-fat supplied for cheesemaking. The pay-out would be finalised when the last payment was received from the Control Board. Statistics were given as follow, the figures for 1926 being shown in parentheses:—Milk, received, 3,885,'6861b (3,589.5951b):' butter-fat. 172,5971 b (158.2681 b); cheese, 443,3001 b ' (410,6001 b lbs milk per lb cheese, 8.621 b (8.601b)-; yield, 2.611 b (2.631 b average test, 4.43 per cent. (4.4lper cent.); average grade, 91.49 per cent, (89.96 per cent.); average price per lb butter-fat, (19Jd). In moving the adoption of the report, the chairman expressed satisfaction that control had been lifted. The company had always been opposed to. the measure. Prospects seemed good.

Mr. W. J. Freeth seconded, and the motion was carried.

Mr. P. Wells having left the district there was a vacancy on the directorate. Messrs. W. W. Moller and C. Lambert, retiring directors, and Messrs. A. E. Baker and T. Martin were nominated, and Messrs. Moller, Baker and Marlin were elected. Air. Tunbridge was re-appointed auditor. The chairman’s honorarium was fixed at £25 and the 'directors’ fees at 10s Gd a meeting-. . The manager (Mr. N., Shogren) was granted a bonus of £25 and the secretary (Mr. R. Pepperell) one of £lO. Mr. Pepperell refused to accept his because of the bad year that bad been experienced. It was decided that a deputation should wait on the Clifton County Council to ask that two chains of metal should be placed on the road opposite the hall and school. Votes of thanks were passed to the secretary, manager and staff, and to the ladies for providing refreshments.
