TEACHING BY USE OF FILMS
THEATRE ATMOSPHERE DISLIKED. NOT CONDUCIVE TO LEARNING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N,, Last Night. The headmasters of the primary schools of Palmerston North are in accord with the recent decision of the Auckland Education Board not to entertain the idea of the exhibition of educational films to school children, until such time as facilities are provided for ehowng the films in the school buildings. The value of educational films was fully appreciated, but it was considered that the atmosphere of theatres was not conducive to learning. When children attended the theatre, the whole afternoon was broken into, and the abrupt change in the system of education from that at the school to that at the picture show was not "worth the candle.”
