Christchurch, Last Night. “If anything happens to me, I cannot help it,” wrote Frederick Charles Laurensbn to his relatives, prior to his admittance to the Christchurch hospital on Wednesday evening, suffering from acid poisoning from which he died on Thursday. “I know it is either this or the asylum. The agony I have been suffering is unbearable.” This note was produced at the inquest before Mr. Mosley, S.M., to-day. The evidence was that Lawrence had suffered from a minor complaint which caused him great pain at times. At the hos ntal poison antidotes were administered, and for twelve hours his condition improved, but afterwards grew worse. The inquest was adjourned pending a post mortem.
