HEROIC MOTHER’S FATE

DEATH FROM BURNS. SAVES HER FOUR CHILDREN. A young mother was fatally burned at Worragee, near Nowra, New South Wales, recently after having gallantly removed her four children to safety. The victim was Mrs. Hilliam Apperlev, aged 27. The tragedy oceured during the absence of the husband at Nowra. Mrs. Apperley was sitting in front of a fire reading a newspaper. It is supposed that she went to sleep and that a spark set alight to her clothing. Although enveloped in flames, she thought of her four children, and removed them from the house. She screamed for assistance, and neighbours about a quater of a mile away, hearing cries, went across to the house, only to find the woman in a. deplorable state with her clothes practically burned off her. She was removed to a private hospital at Nowra, but died early the following morning.
